Animals

Service Animals
Service animals are permitted at Madison Square Garden.  The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines a service animal as any dog, such as a guide dog or signal dog that is individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability.  This includes psychiatric service animals that are individually trained to provide service to individuals with psychiatric or neurological disabilities, such as preventing or interrupting impulsive or destructive behaviors.  Service animals must be harnessed, leashed or tethered at all times, unless special circumstances exist, and will be required to rest in the seating area of the individual with a disability, rather than in the aisle.  A guest whose service animal poses a threat to the safety of other guests and employees, or whose animal is not housebroken, may be asked to escort the animal off the premises.

If you are an individual bringing a service animal, we strongly recommend that you contact Madison Square Garden’s Disabled Services Department to request a photo ID for your animal, which will help to expedite entry and access.   Please click here to request your Animal Access Card.

If you have any questions about this pass or about service animals or any other type of assistance animals, you can contact Madison Square Garden’s Disabled Services Department at 212-465-6034.

Emotional Support Animals
An emotional support animal may only be used at our facilities by persons with a diagnosed mental or emotional disorder.  While the animal may or may not have specific training for that function, it must be trained to behave appropriately in a public setting.   Animals must be harnessed, leashed or tethered at all times, unless special circumstances exist, and will be required to rest in the seating area of the individual who brought the animal, rather than in the aisle.  A guest whose animal poses a threat to the safety of other guests and employees, or whose animal is not housebroken, may be asked to escort the animal off the premises.

If you are an individual seeking to bring an emotional support animal, you must contact Madison Square Garden’s Disabled Services Department to apply for a photo ID for your animal at least 48 hours before the scheduled event.  Please click here to request your Animal Access Card.

To be granted an animal access card, you must provide documentation on letterhead (dated within 1 year of the scheduled event) from a licensed mental health professional (psychiatrist, psychologist or licensed clinical social worker) or a medical doctor specifically treating your mental or emotional disability.  That letter must include the following:

  • The patron has a mental health-related disability recognized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders – Fourth Edition (DSM IV).
  • The animal accompanying the patron is necessary to the patron’s mental health or treatment, and the task the animal performs.
  • The individual providing the assessment of the patron is a licensed mental health professional and the patron is under his or her professional care.
  • The mental health professional’s license number OR the type of license, the issue date and the state or other jurisdiction in which it was issued.

Verification of the document will include Madison Square Garden’s Disabled Services Department contacting your mental health care professional to authenticate the documentation.  If we are unable to validate the documentation, or if the advance notification is not provided, the animal will not be permitted in the facility.

Pre-Sale Information

For some events at Madison Square Garden, promoters may decide to set up a special pre-sale, which MSG Insider members may participate in. During a pre-sale, a limited number of tickets are available for sale within a specified amount of time prior to the actual sale of tickets to the general public. Please note that while a pre-sale can afford you the opportunity to attempt to purchase tickets before the general public sale, there is no guarantee that you will be able to obtain tickets since, as in normal ticket-selling situations, there is a limited supply of tickets. In order to participate in most pre-sales a special code is required. For events where a promoter has arranged for MSG Insider members to participate in a pre-sale, MSG Insider members will be notified of the guidelines of the pre-sale via e-mail. The promoter of the event determines the decision of whether a pre-sale takes place and who may participate.

Protective Netting (Hockey)

During hockey games at Madison Square Garden, protective netting is hung above the glass behind both goals. This precaution limits the amount of pucks that leave the ice and enter the seating area. Although the netting adds an extra precaution, MSG reminds you to stay alert at all times.

Pucks

Pucks that go into the stands during hockey games may be kept by the patron who catches the puck. Please note that while protective netting is put in place at each end of the rink, pucks may still go into the stands. The hockey pucks are made out of 100% vulcanized rubber and are chilled. When these pucks go into the stands they can cause serious injuries, so please stay alert at all times.

Steffi Graf (5 Time Virginia Slims/Chase Championships Champion) and Martina Navratilova (8 Time Virginia Slims/Chase Championships Champion) also have banners hung only during tennis events. In addition, the number 12 hangs to celebrate Billy Joel's record breaking 12 sold out nights in the Arena (Feb-April, 2006) and the number 60 in honor of Elton John's 60th performance at The Garden on his 60th birthday (March 25, 2007).

Upcoming Events Calendar

We update our Upcoming Events Calendar the moment we receive confirmation that an event is taking place at The Garden. The best way to obtain upcoming event information is by signing up for the MSG Newsletter, which is free. We will e-mail you upcoming event information, based upon your preferences, so you will not miss out on all the excitement at MSG.

Walk of Fame

In 1992, Madison Square Garden designated the walkway leading to the arena as the "Walk of Fame," the spot to recognize performers, athletes, announcers, and coaches who demonstrated excellence at their craft in The Garden at various times throughout their extraordinary careers. Each person is honored with a plaque that designates the performance category (Broadcasting, Boxing, Basketball, Hockey, Track and Field, Tennis, Skating, Music, and Circus) in which his or her contributions have been made.

Water Fountains

Water fountains are located throughout the concourses during events in the Arena. For Theater events, water fountains are located in the Theater Lobby.

Wheelchairs For Transportation

For individuals who have limited mobility, we can provide a wheelchair to transport guests from our Main Lobby to your seats. Upon arriving at Madison Square Garden, please ask a Security Officer for assistance. Please be aware that our staff will not remain with the patron during the event, nor will they allow the guest to remain in the wheelchair for the duration of the event.

Whistle Policy

As a courtesy to your fellow ticketholders, we ask that you do not walk around in the seating area until there is a stoppage in play (during sporting events). The black line in the gate designates the area that we ask you to stand behind, so that you do not block the view of those ticketholders who are seated. We thank you for complying with this.

For safety and as a courtesy to other ticketholders, please do not sit or stand in the aisles. Aisles should be kept clear at all times.

Will Call

The Will Call window is located at Window #5 and, at times, at adjacent windows in the Madison Square Garden Box Office. If you are picking up tickets at Will Call, please bring valid photo ID and the credit card used to purchase the tickets. Please be aware that the Will Call window generally closes one hour after the event start time.

If you purchased your tickets from Ticketmaster, you may also utilize the Ticketmaster kiosks located directly outside the MSG Box Office. The kiosks are available during normal Box Office operation hours. Please be advised you must have the credit card used to purchase the tickets.
